Statistical classification of economic activities - ATECO 2002
ATECO 2002 is the Italian version of the European classification of economic activities NACE Rev. 1.1., which became effective with Commission Regulation (EC) N° 29/2002. Its main aim is to identify productive economic activities carried out by any economic unit (i.e. companies, the selfemployed, freelancers, public administration, non-profit organisations). ATECO 2002 identifies the type of economic activity. The classification is used both for statistical and administrative purposes (e.g. for the registration of an business unit in the main administrative archives such as the Chamber of Commerce, the Ministry of Economy and Finance etc.).
