Nicolò Degiorgis, 25 years old
After studying Chinese at the University of Venice he moved to Hong Kong and later to Beijing. There followed a period of training with Magnum Photos of Paris and in 2008/09 he was given a research grant with Fabrica, the communication research centre of Benetton. He has dedicated more than a year to a long-term project regarding the integration problems in north-east Italy, focussing in particular on the use of industrial zones as places of worship for Muslims. In addition since October 2009, he has been working in the field of immigration as a research fellow at the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Trieste. Recently, he has been assigned a studio at the Palazzo Carminati in Venice by the Fondazione d'arte Bevilacqua La Masa. Degiorgis is represented by the agency Contrasto.
