Experts are not sure about the construction of the Church, which probably dates to the late 8th century. The unique fresco cycle inside the Church is one of the earliest examples of pre-Romanesque wall painting in the Alpine area. The museum next to the Church is dedicated to the history of Naturno/Naturns from late Antiquity and the early Middle Ages through to the Gothic period and the time of the bubonic plague in the 17th century.
