The ‘prologue’ of On the Way to New Cultures was part of the 17th International Dance Festival ‘Bolzano Danza’.
At the conference Pier Giovanni Donini, university teacher in History and Institution of Mediterranean Africa and Near East, spoke about the role of mysticism in Islamic history, while the dance critic Elena Franceschini made a historical excursus about the sacred dance between East and West.
In their performance the Mevlevi Dervishes of the Galata Temple of Istanbul brought to life the ancient rituals of the mystics once more in a dance that is a total and sublime corporal expression with the supreme goal of bringing together Man and the Divine and re-establishing cosmic order.
